In addition to getting tossed out of New York, Illinois and Nevada, their payment processor severed ties with daily fantasy clients last month. How are the two companies fighting back? Paying lobbyists to push through pro-daily fantasy legislation in 16 states. [Alexandra Berzon | The Wall Street Journal] • Alphabet's X division (formerly Google X) is planning to test its balloon-powered Internet service, Project Loon, with carriers in Indonesia and Sri Lanka. [Ina Fried | Re/code] • Uber, Lyft and Airbnb break the law frequently, but they are generally able to steamroll regulators. Zenefits, however, ran afoul of authorities. Ben Thompson argues out loud what Silicon Valley mostly keeps to itself: Startups should break the law when it works for their business model. The Chinese stock market rose on Tuesday by 2.8 percent on news that total new yuan lending numbers soundly beat analyst estimates. Let's say the Democrats lose the White House in 2016. If they still manage to win the Senate, there's a two-week period in January in which they could sneak in a justice.
