Hi,

A year ago, Recode tried something new: We launched a series of one-night events focused exclusively on the future of the e-commerce and payments industries.

We invited speakers like Jack Dorsey, Kate Hudson and Tony Hsieh onto our stage for our signature no-BS conversations. And we surrounded you, our loyal readers, with a group of your smartest peers for great networking over food and drinks.

You told us you liked them, which made me smile and my bosses happy. It also convinced us we should do some more.

So, on Monday, March 20, Recode co-founder Kara Swisher and I are hosting our first Code Commerce event of 2017 during the Shoptalk conference in Las Vegas. And today we're thrilled to announce two of the three speakers you'll hear from that night:

Katrina Lake is the founder and CEO of Stitch Fix, an online retailer and personal styling service that smart industry insiders believe will be an IPO candidate over the next year or two.

Lake's five-year-old startup has been a hit with women who don't have the time to shop for themselves, or access to fashionable stores where they live. The mix of smart technology and a human touch has been the key to creating a try-at home experience that could be a model for where retail is headed. Stitch Fix believes it can make the business model work for men, too.

One question is how big this model can get without physical stores. We also wonder how Stitch Fix can keep its customers coming back for several months or longer. We'll ask Lake about this and a lot more in March.

Tristan Walker is the textbook case of an entrepreneur who set out to build a company to solve a problem he experienced firsthand. As a guy who suffered from razor bumps like many black men do, Walker created the Bevel razor and shaving kit to offer a solution not readily found in local drug stores. Three years after launching, Bevel products are now sold in Target stores around the country, as well as on Target.com and Amazon.

Walker's grand vision is to build a consumer-goods giant dedicated to health-and-beauty products for people of color — a demographic he believes the giants in the space have largely ignored. Bevel is the start; women's hair-care products are next. Long-term, Walker wants a whole lot more.

As always, space is limited for this informative event, so I'm encouraging you to register today to reserve your spot. It's going to be an unforgettable evening.

See you soon in Las Vegas!
